Kawasaki Versys-X 300 made right here in India! This year, they’re bringing out

The Versys-X 300 will be made with parts from nearby places, kinda like how they did it with the Kawasaki Ninja 300.

A while ago, we showed you some pictures of the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 being tested in India. It was kind of odd because this bike had already been available in India before 2020 when the new BS6 rules came in. But guess what? Kawasaki has been busy getting the Versys-X 300 ready for our market! They’re making it more suitable for us, and they’re planning to launch it by the end of 2024. Exciting, right?

Highlights

  • It’s got the same engine as the Ninja 300 under the hood.
  • It’s doubtful that they’ll have fancy electronics for sale.
  • The bike will have either 19-inch or 17-inch wheels made of spokes, and the tires will be the kind that need inner tubes.
Kawasaki Versys-X 300

Kawasaki India is bringing out their third locally made bike, following the Ninja 300 and W175. Like the Ninja 300, this new bike will have parts made locally, such as body panels, electronics, tires, and engine components.

In terms of specs, style, and features, it will be pretty much the same as before. The engine, a 296cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder, will likely deliver around 39hp and 26Nm of torque, similar to the Ninja 300. The bike won’t have fancy tech stuff like advanced riding assists, just basic dual-channel ABS.

It’ll have spoked wheels and tubed tires, with a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel. Expect it to weigh about 185kg and have a ground clearance of around 180mm. With suspension travel under 150mm, it’s more suited for rough roads than serious off-roading.

Back in 2018, when we first tried the Versys-X 300, it didn’t do too well because of its high price, around Rs 4.60 lakh. Now that it’s being made locally, there’s hope for a better price, but we don’t know if it’ll drop below Rs 4 lakh. Just to give you an idea, the Ninja 300 costs about Rs 3.43 lakh.
